Google’s page ranking system is the most important part of the search engine, Google recently announced that they’re using HTTPS as a factor towards your ranking.

Currently this factor is affecting fewer than 1% of global queries, however, Google also noted that this could easily change and have more weight in the future.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is trusted by customers, meaning they will be happier and feel safer when using your website. It also means less opportunities for hackers and another chance to improve your ranking.

If you are not currently using HTTPS via SSL then make the change! There are no real downsides and the advantages are that your website, visitor data and search rankings will all benefit!
